Even as a group of 11, 8 teenage girls and 3 adults from the U.S, Tembeta met our various attention spans and interests.Cristobal was able to share, in English, his knowledge which extensively spanded the culture, biology, anthropology, astronomy, enviromental issues and history of the area. We toured Damas Island one day and Fray Jorge N.P. the next day with Tembeta. The company is GREAT! The days were long with some car riding and a lot of walking. Take a camera, walking shoes, sunscreen and binoculars. And a waterproof bag for Damas Island.
Visited Valle del Encanto and Parque Fray Jorge for the first time. Took my mom (77) and my friend along. Our tour guide, Cristobal, was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and accommodating. He made sure we had a wonderful experience. He held my mom’s hand to ensure she was safe! When visiting wear layers, good hiking boots. Each place deserves a day on its own. I wish I had more time for Valle del Encanto. Visited on a Wednesday in October. Lots of flowers, nature to see..
We had two great tours with Cristobal, the agency owner. We wanted to do more but our time was limited. Cristobal is extremely knowledgeable about the cultural and natural history of the region and explains everything in detail. He is fluent in at least theee languages. We speak English and he was able to explain everything to us. Our travel companion is French and he spoke French for her.
A definite plus is that the tours are limited to six people. This makes a huge difference in the experience! We went on another tour of 30 people which was okay but not nearly as detailed. Nor could we see as much.
Cristobal was very generous with the time, allowing an additional hour or more at the petroglyphs to ensure that we saw enough and could get good photos in early evening light. I recommend this tour very much. It informed our experience of Chile in a most positive way!.
